Bourbon ball making is an intensive process. First you have to make pecan-bourbon mash, which is just ground up pecan meal saturated with LOTS of bourbon. That sits overnight. Then you mix the pecan meal with some vanilla and powdered sugar and roll it up into balls and freeze the balls (heh) overnight. Then you dip them in chocolate. Then they are ready to serve and eat!
Step one came tonight as I made my pecan mash. There's not much to it besides grinding pecans in your food processor, measuring out 14 tablespoons of Makers, and mixing them together. You finish by spreading the stuff out in a shallow pan, covering it with plastic wrap, and letting it sit overnight.
The mash smells really good at this point -- all that bourbon -- but it does not taste very good, so do not try to eat it.

I want to come to your party! Or maybe I just want to eat these bourbon balls and hang out with your cats. :)
