January 2012 Birchbox Haul
Here is my January Birchbox.
This month's theme is "clarity," as in New Year's resolutions, blah blah blah. My box contained:
Archipelago Pomegranate Body Soap
Clark's Botanicals Smoothing Marine Cream
Juicy Couture perfume
stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Blue Ribbon
Larabar Mini Bar - Carrot Cake flavor
and a bonus Birchbox refrigerator magnet
The soap is very strong-smelling and it's a hotel-sized bar. I actually really don't like using scented soaps or body washes in the shower, but it'll travel well.
The Clark's cream is a moisturizer. I am always on the lookout for a good moisturizer but this one retails at $115 a jar full-size. So while it might be fabulous, I'm not going to buy it. Also I don't care for the way it smells.
I hate the Juicy Couture perfume. HATE. It smells exactly the way you'd think something made by Juicy would smell. Tacky.
The jury is out on the eyeliner. I was excited to get this product (they did either Zoya nail polishes from the Feel collection or the eyeliner in boxes this month) but eyeliner is really pushing my makeup comfort zone. I've only just started wearing it regularly. Dark blue is...different and I'm not sure how it'll work with my coloring.
The Larabar is a Larabar, a good quick snack.

I have a beauty confession: I spent so much at Sephora last year, I now have the VIP Beauty Insider status.
ReplyDeleteBad Kerry.
Even though you weren't a fan of this month's box, your posts about Birchbox totally convinced me to sign up. So: rock.
ReplyDeleteI really like the eyeliner, I got it in purple tang! It is a little hard to roll up though, and doesn't go back down once rolled up! So don't be like me and roll it for fun, haha. Now I'm stuck with a really long eyeliner end!
ReplyDeleteI did my review and unboxing here: http://www.mrsgaeul.com. :)
I feel like Birchbox stepped it up this month with products (and sizes of said products), which makes me pleased. Although, I didn't photograph this months (or post about it) because I wasn't expecting anything grand.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my box -- but would have much rather had a Larabar. I got some random baggie of granola, which I couldn't even eat because of a shellfish warning on the package (it seriously had no fewer than 5 dietary warnings on the thing!). That said, I got a gold/bronze stila eyeliner, which I'm totally stoked about. :)
@Miss E: That's cool, I hope you like it! I'm going to hang on for another month or two and see what happens.
ReplyDelete@Hazar: Wow, people got a lot of different colors of the eyeliner. Nice to see some variety. I tried the blue last night before going out for dinner and it was actually pretty subdued. Like your blog, by the way! =)
@Mel: Oh gold/bronze! Jealous. My friend Sarah sent me a pic of her granola sample and it was eensy!
